Looking out my window last night I saw that winter was really beginning in Seattle. Because snow is such an infrequent visitor to Seattle, I had to head out to find something to photograph. I headed to the Top of Queen Anne Hill thinking that because it was several hundred feet higher I'd find lots of snow ...and lots of Xmas lights.
Wrong on both counts, though I did manage to find a representative sample. As I write this post... the snow has finally begun in earnest. Winter is here. Perhaps we'll have a white Xmas? We'll see. Statistically the odds aren't very good, but you just never know.
At the very least the city will be virtually shut down tomorrow. When a flake of the white stuff falls in Seattle everything comes to a screeching halt. Of course we're a city of hills, so some allowance must be made for that fact, but it's sure not like in Montana. Rain we can handle ...snow is another matter altogether. -Ed

You're a poet, Eddie. I also love Seattle in the snow. It snowed my first winter there, 1962. I thought the camellias were red roses, somehow winter blooming. We were there a few years ago when snow and ice paralyzed Seattle and Portland. Beautiful, quiet nightime walks around Jerry's sister's hilltop neighborhood, the lights of downtown Bellevue and Seattle in the distance. Nothing to do about it but relax and wait. After a few days, we managed to drive to Portland, along with a other brave souls.
Great picture--thanks!
